Our Story — A Complete Timeline (Since 1997)

The evolution of Sino Ortho: from a university CNC lab to a global orthodontic solutions provider.

1997

Where Our Journey Began

Our story began at the CNC Laboratory of Zhejiang University of Science & Technology, where we operated as an external machining center.
Here we developed small-batch, fully CNC-milled brackets, laying the technological foundation and engineering expertise that would guide our future.
2000-2005

Expansion into EDM Manufacturing

We introduced advanced EDM machining equipment, enabling efficient mass production of fully milled brackets and buccal tubes.
This advancement improved cost-performance and marked our first major step toward scalable, professional orthodontic manufacturing.
2005-2010

FDA Registration & Entry Into the U.S. Market

Our products were successfully registered with the U.S. FDA, opening the door to one of the world’s most demanding medical markets.
During this period, our product portfolio expanded to cover most mainstream orthodontic categories, establishing the foundation for global distribution.
2010-2015

Adoption of Precision Metal Casting

We introduced precision metal casting and applied it to brackets and buccal tubes.
This significantly improved production efficiency and enhanced the stability and consistency of product quality—marking a key transition toward modernized manufacturing.
2015-2018

Introduction of Laser Welding Technology

We implemented laser welding to replace traditional welding processes.
The new technology eliminated secondary high-temperature exposure, protected dimensional accuracy, and removed the risk of solder contamination, resulting in cleaner and stronger weld joints.
2018-2020

Automation in Elastomeric Injection Molding

We adopted a fully automated injection-molding system for elastomeric products.
This upgrade dramatically increased production efficiency, reduced operator risks, and improved repeatability and stability in product quality.
2022-2023

Automated Tray-Setting for Sintering & Workflow Integration

We introduced a fully automated tray-setting technology that replaced manual alignment of brackets before sintering.
This breakthrough brought remarkable gains in precision, throughput, and workflow integration while reducing human error and enhancing efficiency across processing stages.
2024-2025

Development of Fully Automated Laser Welding Systems

With decades of production experience, we developed our own fully automated laser-welding platform for brackets and buccal tubes.
This innovation elevated manufacturing precision to a new level, pushing Sino Ortho into the era of intelligent, next-generation orthodontic production.

EU MDR Certification

We completed the transition of its CE certification to the requirements of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR, Regulation (EU) 2017/745) and obtained its final MDR certificate. This milestone reinforces our commitment to regulatory compliance, product safety, and consistent quality in the European market.

Andy Zheng, General Manager of SINO ORTHO, graduated from Zhejiang University of Science and Technology with a major in Mechanical Design. With over 20 years of experience in orthodontic product manufacturing, he has been a witness, participant, and leader in China's orthodontic products industry. As the executive of the company, Andy consistently upholds a meticulous approach and a customer-responsible attitude in both management and production, aiming to ensure that the quality of the products meets or even exceeds customers' quality requirements.
